Our journey began about a year ago, a pivotal moment after closing a business I had run for a decade, only to face new challenges amid the pandemic. As life beckoned for more purpose beyond homeschooling and part-time work, my longstanding love for holistic wellness led me to the enchanting world of herbs. It started with herbal baths and flourished into crafting unique tea blends.
Redbud came to life during a time of loss and grief for our family. A few months prior, we said goodbye to our beloved Meme. When naming our business, I wanted something with a profound connection to us and our Oklahoma roots. Redbud trees, Meme's favorite, embody her spirit with their vibrant burst of color, signaling the arrival of spring. They also happen to be the state tree of Oklahoma. Thus, Redbud Tea and Apothecary became not just a name but a reflection of our journey and the love we carry in our hearts.
Now, let me introduce the heart behind Redbud. Trever and I have shared 15 years of marriage, and the flame of love still dances brightly. Friends often comment that we seem perpetually on our honeymoon, and with two wonderful children, Lachlan (11) and Wren (8), our days are filled with joy. As a family, we savor the simple pleasures—crafting delicious meals, indulging in game and movie nights, exploring new places, attending concerts, and cherishing quality time together.
When you encounter us at pop-ups, Trever is the steadfast companion, handling everything from logistical challenges to behind-the-scenes business intricacies. Lachlan and Wren, our creative sparks, lend their energy to crafting bath bombs and lotion bars named after them, making the packaging process a family affair. I take pride in creating the logos, labels, and recipes for our products. What began as a personal hobby has evolved into a fully embraced family business.
